Welcome to the Newark Union Church and Cemetery website!
This site focuses on the history and restoration of this property, which in February, 2020 was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. This Cemetery has been active since the 1600's and holds the names of many important families of Brandywine Hundred. The Church was built in 1845 as a fieldstone Quaker meetinghouse, renovated in 1906 to a Gothic-Revival style stuccoed building, closed in 1970, then restored and re-opened in 2022. The Church holds museum-quality displays of Americana, life in the mid-1800s to early 1900s and Brandywine Hundred items. Thanks for visiting and enjoy.
Descendants of Valentine Hollingsworth Senior Society are visiting!
DVHSS is visiting on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 10:30am. This is a bonus event of their 2025 DVHSS Reunion being held in the Baltimore area. If you are a Hollingsworth descendant, please stop by and see your cousins as they enjoy the museum and the site.
